Targets and requirements

Framework conditions

Increasing data traffic within the producing processes already in the lowest level.

Requirements for Industry 4.0

•    Components have to provide (gather) the required data
•    Seamless communication from the sensor to the internet
•    Infrastructure in terms of transporting the data through all levels

ERP – Enterprise Resource Planning
ERP is business-management software that an organization can use to collect, store, manage and interpret data from many business activities, including product planning, cost, manufacturing or service delivery, marketing and sales, inventory management, shipping and payment. An efficient operational value creation process and a continuous optimized control of business and operational processes are guaranteed..

ERP provides an integrated view of core business processes, often in real-time, using common databases maintained by a database management system. ERP systems track business resources—cash, raw materials, production capacity—and the status of business commitments: orders, purchase orders, and payroll. It assures that all materials needed for the manufacturing process will be at the right place at the right time. This is possible through the help of IT systems with its modern information and communication techniques.

MES – Manufacturing Executing Systems
MES are used in process-oriented operating level of a multidi-mensional production management system. MES differ from similar systems like ERP in that they have direct access to the distributed systems of the process atomization. MES track and document the transformation of raw materials through finished goods. MES can provide the right information at the right time and show the manufacturing decision maker "how the current conditions on the plant floor can be optimized to improve production output." MES work in real time to enable the control of multiple elements of the production process (e.g. inputs, personnel, machines and support services). This includes data acquisition and preparation like factory data collection, machine data logging and personnel data collection, but also all processes, which immediately effect manufacturing and production processes.

SCADA – Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
SCADA is a computer system collecting and analyzing real-time data. Scada systems are network control systems that monitor, control and optimize industrial plants.

PLC – Programmable Logic Controller
A programmable logic controller (PLC) is a digital computer that is used for controlling or regulating a machine or system. For several years it has superseded the the "hardwired" control in most fields.
